Cookie policy

Effective 13 October 2026. This page explains the small technologies used by Veneran in Indonesia.

It applies to the Veneran website and should be read with the Privacy policy. The examples below describe the ordinary records used to remember choices, support delivery, and understand broad readership. No optional tool is intended to make a sensitive profile.

1. What cookies do

Cookies are small browser records that help a website remember a choice or understand aggregate use. Veneran keeps their purpose limited and does not use them to make sensitive profiles.

A browser record can be a cookie, local storage key, or a short-lived server session. These technologies may remember that a notice was dismissed, help a page load correctly, or count broad visits without identifying a named person. They do not reveal the contents of unrelated browser activity.

2. Essential choice record

The site uses the browser storage key cookieChoice after you select Accept or Reject. It remains until you clear browser storage. This record prevents the banner from returning on every page.

The value records the choice and, where practical, the date of the choice; it does not contain a message, password, or precise location. If storage is cleared, the notice appears again because the site can no longer see the earlier choice. Essential choice storage is used because repeatedly showing the same notice can make navigation less usable.

3. Session technology

Some hosting functions may use session identifiers that expire when the browser session ends. They support basic delivery and security. They are not used to identify a person across unrelated sites.

A session record can help route requests, detect unusual request patterns, or preserve a temporary form state. It is not designed to remain after the browser session closes. Security logs associated with sessions are generally retained for 90 days and then deleted or anonymised, subject to a documented incident review.

4. Optional measurement

If audience measurement is enabled, aggregated events may be retained for up to 13 months. Measurement is configured to reduce unnecessary detail and is not intended to infer sensitive conditions.

A first-party key such as vnr_measurement may record a broad page visit, referring category, device type, and approximate region. It should not contain a name or message content. Optional measurement is activated only after the relevant choice where consent is required, and a visitor can withdraw that choice by clearing storage or contacting the reader desk.

5. Preferences

Future editorial tools may remember language, display, or accessibility preferences for up to 12 months. Such tools will be described before activation. Essential reading does not depend on optional preferences.

Preference records may include reduced-motion or font-size choices, but should not include private correspondence. A preference can be reset through browser settings or the relevant page control. If a preference tool is introduced, its name, purpose, duration, and provider will be added to this policy before activation.

6. Browser controls

You can clear storage, block cookies, or change browser settings. Blocking essential records may cause the notice to reappear, but it does not prevent basic reading. Browser controls differ by device.

Most browsers allow visitors to review records by site, delete selected items, or block third-party storage. Private browsing modes may remove records at the end of a session. Because controls vary, consult the browser help menu for the device being used; Veneran cannot change a visitor’s browser remotely.

7. Third parties

Embedded or linked third-party services may set their own technologies. Veneran does not control those records. Review the third party’s policy before using an embedded service.

Possible service categories include hosting and delivery through Vercel, email or form processing, event registration, and privacy-respecting measurement. An external video, map, or document viewer may create records only when loaded or used. A provider’s own notice controls its technology, and a visitor can avoid it by not opening the external service.

8. Retention

Choice records remain until removal by the visitor; session records expire at session end; optional measurement records may be retained for up to 13 months; preference records may last up to 12 months.

Retention limits may be extended only for security investigation, legal compliance, or a documented dispute. Backups follow a rolling schedule and are ordinarily overwritten within 90 days after active deletion. Records are not retained merely because a visitor opened a page.

9. Questions and changes

Questions can be sent to Veneran at Jl. Pahlawan Seribu No. 8, Sektor 4, BSD City, Tangerang Selatan, Banten 15310, Indonesia, or +62 813 6745 9021. We aim to acknowledge a request within 7 days and respond within 30 days.

This policy was issued on 13 October 2026. New tools, providers, purposes, or durations will be described in a dated revision before or when they are introduced. Visitors should review this page after a material change.

Cookie choices and retention

Veneran keeps cookie use proportionate to the function being provided. The cookieChoice record may remain until browser storage is cleared, and a server session identifier normally expires when the browser session ends or within 24 hours of inactivity. If aggregated measurement is enabled, a first-party identifier such as veneran_visit may last for up to 13 months and is configured to report broad page activity rather than message content. Preference records used for language or display choices may last up to 180 days. We do not use these records to infer sensitive characteristics or to follow reading activity across unrelated websites.

Hosting, security, consent management, and measurement providers may process technical identifiers on Veneran’s behalf. Depending on the provider’s infrastructure, processing can occur outside Indonesia, with contractual safeguards and access restrictions applied where appropriate. A browser can block or delete cookies, although essential delivery or the visibility of the consent notice may be affected. Browser settings differ, so a deletion made on one device does not necessarily change a choice on another device.

Questions about cookie use can be sent to Jl. Pahlawan Seribu No. 8, Sektor 4, BSD City, Tangerang Selatan, Banten 15310, Indonesia, or +62 813 6745 9021. We aim to acknowledge requests within 7 days and explain the relevant record or instruction within 30 days. This policy was reviewed on 13 October 2026; a later change to cookie names, purposes, providers, or lifespans will be reflected in a dated revision.
